Ivermectin

Composition

Indication

  • Treatment and prevention of internal parasites: Nematodes (e.g., roundworms, hairworms, threadworms), larval stages of filarial worms.
  • Control of external parasites: Mites (red mites, scaly leg mites), lice, ticks, and fleas.

Contraindications

  • Do not use in sick or underweight birds.
  • Avoid in pigeons with known hypersensitivity to ivermectin.

Precautions

  • Ensure accurate dosing based on bird weight.
  • Provide clean drinking water during treatment.

Dosage & Administration

  • Oral use only.
  • Adult pigeons: 1 tablet per bird.
  • Young pigeons (<6 weeks): ½ tablet per bird.
  • Repeat treatment after 10-14 days if heavy infestation persists.

Adverse Reactions

  • Rare: Mild lethargy or temporary loss of appetite at higher doses.
  • Overdose symptoms: Tremors, incoordination. Discontinue use immediately.

Withdrawal Period

  • No meat or egg withdrawal period at recommended dosage.
